NEW YORK—Bard College announced on Wednesday that it will offer a course on creative writing, the most popular college-level writing course in the world, and a new program for graduate students.
The course, called The Creative Writing Program, is intended for students who have not previously studied creative writing or have only a basic understanding of writing and storytelling.
The course will be offered through Bard College’s Creative Writing Center.
The program is intended to teach young writers to create “stories of their own creation,” said a press release from the Bard College.
It will be based in the Creative Writing center, which has offices in New York City and Boston.
The center has been offering free workshops, writing projects and other resources for students since 2013.
Bard is hoping to make the course more widely available by expanding its reach.
In 2015, Bard offered a course titled Creative Writing: The Beginner’s Guide, which is a guide to writing and reading.
The courses are taught by the director of the center, Laura Giese, and are based in Bard’s new offices in downtown New York.
