In the early stages of his career, Cristiano Ronaldo had a tough time finding a coach who would take him on as a professional footballer.
But now, as he is nearing the end of his playing career, the Portugal forward has decided to look beyond the game and is keen to have a more constructive role in the world.
“In football there is no such thing as a coach.
You need to work on yourself.
But you have to be patient, not always being ready, and to understand yourself.
And if you understand yourself, it’s better to do it, because if you don’t, then it’s impossible.
You can never be ready.
You have to work every day, and when you do, it’ll be because you’ve understood yourself better than any other person.”
This is why Ronaldo is now planning to return to football as a teacher.
“Football is a very important part of my life.
And in the future, it will be very important to teach people how to play football,” he said.
“I know there are players out there who have no passion for football.
But if I’m able to help them understand football, I will have the chance to make them better players.”
